The Most Generous Person Who Ever Lived
Today’s topic is the final part of a series that was interrupted the past few weeks by several current events. Today I’ll continue and complete the three-part series on radical generosity.
The most generous person who ever lived is Jesus. When we look at the life of Jesus, we see a portrait of perfect generosity. Jesus didn’t merely give things. He gave Himself.
Whether it was time spent with the outcast, healing for the ill and broken, food for the hungry, or words of truth to the lost, His entire ministry was an outpouring of grace.
Ultimately, He gave the most precious gift of all: His life. On the cross, Jesus offered Himself so we might receive forgiveness, freedom, and eternal life. That generosity is so vast it rewrites our understanding of what it means to give.
But His generosity wasn’t only about the cross—it was a daily rhythm of compassion. He loved and cared for people. He fed thousands with a few loaves of bread and a few fish. Not just to prove His power. But because He saw their need and had compassion.
We are called to reflect that same heart. To give not just when it’s convenient, but when it’s costly. To give not just out of duty, but out of love.
Thanks be to God He does not measure mercy in teaspoons. He gives abundantly. God gave everything. He gave His Son. He gives His grace. Forgiveness. Eternal life. All as a gift.
Jesus gave not out of abundance. He gave out of love. He gave all He had to give. Even His life. In my mind, that makes Jesus the most generous person who ever lived.
